Contraband discovered in the truck

Authorised officers of the Indirect Taxation Authority in the operational action codenamed PLAN in the Customs Office of Bijeljina confiscated a large amount of smuggled textile goods worth BAM 70,000.

In the operational action codenamed PLAN, authorised officers of the Department for the Enforcement of Regulations, Group for the Prevention of Smuggling and Misdemeanors of RC Tuzla, and on the basis of earlier operational knowledge about the smuggling of textiles from the Republic of Serbia, carried out a detailed inspection and search of a cargo motor vehicle and shipments reported in to the customs office of Bijeljina, and all in accordance with the directions and instructions of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and the order of the Court of BiH. During the inspection of the vehicle, undeclared and contraband goods were found in the auxiliary compartments for pallets. The total value of undeclared textile products (adidas and Nike tracksuits – 1049 pieces, sweatshirts and pants – 105 pieces) is estimated at BAM 70,000.

A Report on the committed criminal offense and the perpetrator will be submitted to the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina against the suspected person, and due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that the criminal offense of Smuggling has been committed, from Article 214 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In the course of taking measures within its jurisdiction, specialised equipment and vehicles donated to the ITA by the American Embassy through the EXBS program were used.
