International Anti-Corruption Day

8.12.2023 | News

December 9 is celebrated as the International Anti-Corruption Day in the world, and on this occasion the Indirect Taxation Authority (ITA) once again emphasizes its clear strategic commitment to fight against all forms of corrupt behavior. Combating corruption and improving integrity and ethical standards is a permanent mission of the ITA, which is implemented through the development and improvement of an environment resistant to corruption and constant communication about the possible consequences of corrupt behavior. The ITA is aware of the negative impact of corruption on the collapse of the fundamental values of social relations, and endangering trust in public institutions and the rule of law. That is why we are determined to take all the necessary measures and actions to suppress corrupt activities within the institution, to build an efficient and effective approach for the systemic suppression of corruption, and to continue to carry out appropriate procedures against any official who is proven to have engaged in such illegal behavior.

In order to fight corruption, during November, the ITA officials distributed leaflets to citizens at all international border crossings – STOP CORRUPTION IN BIH, through which citizens could be informed about what corruption is and how to recognize it, what are the most common forms of corrupt practices, activities in the service, which legal mechanisms the ITA uses to fight corruption, which are the ways of submitting a report on corruption, and which rights and obligations do corruption applicants have.
