Chairperson of Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Borjana Krišto and ITA General Director Zoran Tegeltija discussed the work of the ITA

The Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Borjana Krišto, discussed the functioning of the Indirect Taxation Authority (ITA) and future planned activities with the ITA Director, PhD Zoran Tegeltija, in Banja Luka on 21st of September.

During the meeting, the importance of the ITA work was pointed out, pointing out that in eight months of 2023 the ITA collected a record BAM 6 billion and 931 million of indirect taxes, which is BAM 495 million, or 7.7% more than in 2022.

The ITA Director informed chairperson Krišto about all the most important business processes carried out by the ITA, as well as about current problems, especially when it comes to the personnel structure and insufficient number of employees, as well as inadequate working conditions, especially in Banja Luka.  Also, they discussed about activities planned in the upcoming period that should contribute to improving the work of the ITA and achieving even better relations with the business community and citizens in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Chairperson Krišto welcomed the entry into force of the Ordinance on the Amendment to the Ordinance on the Application of the Value Added Tax Act, which made another step towards tax relief for donating food, after the BiH Parliamentary Assembly adopted the Amendment to the VAT Act.

Krišto introduced Director Tegeltija to the initiative of the Federal Institute for Health Insurance and Reinsurance as well as the initiative of the Health Insurance Fund of the Republic of Srpska to reduce, cancel or refund VAT on medicines, medical materials, equipment and other goods and services that are procured for the purpose provision of health care, all with the aim of relieving the burden on the operations of institutions in the field of health, as well as increasing the quality of health services used by final beneficiaries.
