The Indirect Taxation Authority of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ITA BiH) has received a valuable donation of specialized equipment under the project “Countering of Trafficking in Firearms, Their Parts and Ammunition in Express Courier and Postal Parcels – Project Hermes 2.”

The donation includes two handheld detectors for identifying explosives and drugs (TruDefender FTX S2), the total value of which amounts to USD 93,706.11, thus providing significant technical support in strengthening the capacity of BiH institutions to prevent and detect illicit firearms trafficking.

The handover protocol was signed in Sarajevo by Vesna Stevanović, National Programme Officer at UNODC BIH, and Mladen Zirojević, Head of the Customs Procedures Section at the ITA Regional Centre in Sarajevo.

Hermes 2 project is funded by Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, France, the United Kingdom, and Norway through the Western Balkans SALW Control Roadmap Trust Fund and supported by the European Union. Project activities are implemented by the UNODC Global Firearms Programme in cooperation with ITA BiH, postal operators, and other relevant institutions involved in combating the illicit trafficking in firearms.

ITA BiH expressed its gratitude to UNODC and Hermes 2 project partners for their continued support in strengthening institutional capacities and enhancing security in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
